CAN-SPAM and CASL

The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for businesses on commercial emails, establishes requirements for commercial messages and gives recipients the right to have businesses stop emailing them. Despite its name, the CAN-SPAM Act doesn’t apply just to bulk email. It covers all commercial messages, which the law defines as “any electronic mail message the primary purpose of which is the commercial advertisement or promotion of a commercial product or service,” including email that promotes content on commercial websites

Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL) is the federal law dealing with spam and other electronic threats.  It is meant to protect Canadians while ensuring that businesses can continue to compete in the global marketplace.

CAN-SPAM contrasts with Canada’s CASL in that CAN-SPAM regulations apply only to sending email. CASL regulations apply to ALL online messaging systems such as email, SMS, instant messaging, and social media.

Occasionally we may update and change our Privacy Policy. If there are significant changes affecting our visitors or members our team will provide reasonable notice through website notifications, emails, or other methods. Your continued use of the website and related services will signify your acceptance of any new terms.
